Day 3: Hosting a Birthday
Breakfast-Cheerios
Lunch-Chicken salad with tomatoes
Snack-Tomatoes with a balsamic/olive oil dressing and Popcorn
Dinner- Jenny Craig meatballs pizza (300 cals)
Today, I hosted a surprise birthday for my bestfriend Matty, who was turning 18. I wanted to prepare a variety of fun party/healthy food for our guests, many of whom are vegitarians and fellow senior project dieters alike, but also food for those nondieting-meatlovers. For the nondieters, we served a delicious chocolate cake and baffalo wings from Cosco (There's big and then there's Cosco).
As a healthy subsitute, I set out a platter of cherry tomatoes in a olive oil/ balsamic dressing, lowfat popcorn, and whole grain pretzels. Instead of setting out soda, we had ice water with lemon slices. Keeping myself at stalking distance from the cake and wings, I was able to enjoy all the other foods at the party. The cherry tomato platter was fast to make and a big hit among all of the guests.
